I’m still struggling, but my purple sweater and green/white scarf are giving me a boost. As promised yesterday, I’m sharing one of the recipes from Mehmere’s Kitchen. She and I spent a lot of time there through the years and it was a really happy place for me.
I was looking in my email for a different brownie recipe so I could make some Slutty Brownies (which I do not understand still) this past weekend and I came across this one. (I was too lazy to go to the store for a box mix.) It was just a list of ingredients, a set of instructions and a bake temp and time.
Mehmere must have given it to me years ago and it has been in my email waiting for me to find it again. How fitting that I found it in time to share today.
She’d get a tickle that I turned it into one of my recipe art cards and it’s sized to print as a 5×7 if you’d like to do so.
This recipe is great. It’s just a basic brownie recipe with her little twist of bold rich flavor, but it’s so easy it makes the perfect base to make your own creation. Also it’s so very simple I (almost) always have everything on hand. If I want brownies, I can just whip them up, I don’t have to go to the store for them!
Things I remember adding to it:
- Coconut and Raspberry Jam
- Peanut butter chips
- M&Ms
- Dried apricots
- Chopped Andes Candy
Things I would like to add to it as I type this now:
- See above list
- Coffee flavor
- Carmel and pretzel pieces
- White Chocolate Chips
- Toffee and Cashews
There you have it. What would you use as Mix – ins? Let me know if you have any questions or problems seeing it.
