A word to the wise for those with vanity plates or otherwise distinctive cars

I try not to get all ranty, but I can’t help myself today. Perhaps if we look at this post as an enthusiastic public service announcement it will make me feel less guilty.

There are a lot of speed demons out there on the road. This is a fact we can not deny and I include myself amongst them when the situation calls for it. The situation calling for it in my mind? Open roads and no traffic.

8:30am traffic on a fairly busy connecting stretch of road is not a good time.

Mr. BMW with plates of NJOYTROY I’m looking at you today.

I get it that Little Nissan that Could and I are not nearly as important as you and your Black BMW SUV. I understand that you clearly had more important places to be than I did and that’s ok I guess. (I wasn’t trying to get to work myself or anything.) What’s not ok is you cutting me off to weave in and out of traffic, putting my heart and life at risk to prove it and get there. Not to mention the others you cut off and wove around. Joking aside, the adrenaline rush and short panic wasn’t a good way to start the day.

I’m used to shitty drivers and try to be hyper aware of others on the road. Morning commute traffic isn’t the time to be all excitable because it just sets the tone for a crappy day and while we all make mistakes, I have a feeling that the weaving in and out of traffic was intentional and not a mistake.

Reader, you might be asking, “What sets this person apart from others and gets them a blog mention?”

That’s easy. What sets this person apart is that they had a car and plates to remember and therefore I’m mentioning it.

Lesson for today? If you’re going to have a distinctive car or vanity plates? Don’t be an asshole or crappy driver on the road. You’ll get called out on it and possibly catch a whole lot of crap.
