I’m writing this from my phone, sitting in my husband’s grandmother’s living room watching NCIS, but what else is new?
(Side note. The first hour we were in town, we talked to Grandma about politics, religion, morality and ethics. And that she went to England for a video tape.)
We had Thanksgiving with my sister in law, her husband, kids, her in laws and my in laws. Really, the only thing missing was your Mom.
This is the first Thanksgiving without Mehmere and my newly extended family did a great job distracting me today. I adore them for being them, for taking me into their fold, and for the fun they offered today.
I also wish to commend my brother in law on his turkey and stuffing, his mother on the green bean casserole, and my sister in law for her pumpkin pie. The ginger was just right.
I’m thankful today for every person in my life, good or bad. I’m thankful that I took a chance on a guy in a whole other time zone, and I’m likely more thankful he took a chance on me. I’m thankful that I have my family, my friends, my job, and my life.
I’m thankful for the friends who see my sparkle when I don’t and loan me theirs when mine is straight up missing. I’m thankful for random lottery rooming assignments and kindred spirits. I’m thankful for the people who keep me in track and grounded, but also for the ones who encourage my dreams. I’m thankful for the time I had with the people I miss because they’re gone now. I’m thankful that I decided I loved me enough to get my shit together. I’m thankful for whatever it is in this crazy life that had it come together like this for me.
I guess I’m feeling very grateful and thankful for everything right now.
